All I need is a camera and a view

You gotta have soul

What’s the difference between a good photograph and a truly great photograph? Is it light, composition, equipment, detail, contrast, subject or just technical know-how?  I believe it’s all of these elements working together in harmony and you need to be on your A game as a photographer.  There is however, one really import ingredient you need to have to make your photographs really stand out and that’s soul. The passion you feel for your subject, whether it be a landscape, architecture, wildlife, plants even your cousins wedding, is what will give your photo purpose. I love being a photographer, I love getting up early to capture the light, I love to travel and experience the world, I love capturing moments in time. Do all my photographs work? Of course not. But the images that do have one thing in common, a little soul.

Have camera, will travel

People are always looking for new experiences in life. I recommend getting out there yourself. Be brave.  Enjoy the diversity and culture the world has to offer. You don’t have to jump on a plane to experience the richness of life. Get out your camera and wonder outside. Colour, art and emotion are all around you.  I have been lucky enough to travel to extraordinary places and capture moments in time. Most, if not all of my photography is done without the use of flash.  It’s simple etiquette. If you’re taking a photo in a church, gallery, aquarium or such place, unless you are there on assignment as a paid photographer with the full knowledge and permission of the relevant authorities, turn your flash off. The modern DSLR cameras of today are more than adequate to get usable images at higher ISO and they are improving all the time. Just practice.
